Monster Jam

Saturday night we found ourselves at the strangest and most exhilarating of all events. Yes, you guessed it… a monster truck rally! Throughout my life, I have caught commercials for these events and have always written them off as a hobby for crazy people who thrive on destruction and have no respect for automobile safety. Come Saturday night, I realized that I was wrong. These events are for people who have children. Just strap some headphones on your kiddos and prepare yourself for hours of car-smashing, truck-flipping, demolition-derby-racing excitement. And if you come a couple hours early, they will let you walk around the whole set and meet your favorite trucks and drivers… which is good if you know who any of those nice folks are, which I did not. But it didn’t matter because by the end of the whole bizarrely exciting night I was cheering for the likes of Grave Digger, Sunovadigger, El Toro Loco and Monster Mutt. Unfortunately, Patrick was terribly ill the next day from a monster virus that I think he picked up from the stadium floor that evening, but that aside, it was a night of absolute destruction and happiness.
